Identified the Research Focus – We aimed to understand mental health challenges among teenagers, particularly their stressors, coping mechanisms, and access to support.
Designed the Survey – We created a structured questionnaire that included questions about mental health habits, sources of stress, coping strategies, and whether they sought professional help.
Collected Data – We distributed the survey to a diverse group of teenagers, ensuring a range of perspectives and experiences were represented.
Analyzed the Responses – We examined the data to identify common trends, such as major stressors, preferred coping mechanisms, and barriers preventing teens from seeking mental health support.
Interpreted the Findings – We used our analysis to draw conclusions about how mental health awareness and accessibility impact teenagers, recognizing key areas where support systems may be lacking.
Reflected on Implications – Our research provided insights into the mental health struggles teens face and how these findings could be used to improve support structures in schools and communities.
Findings:
According to the research study, the leading cause of loneliness among teenagers is social media, yet their main coping mechanism is also social media. This creates a cycle where teens feel isolated due to online comparisons, lack of real-life interaction, or negative experiences, but still turn to the same platforms for comfort and connection. While social media provides an easy way to distract themselves or interact with others, it often reinforces feelings of loneliness rather than resolving them. This highlights the need for healthier coping strategies and a better balance between online and offline interactions.
This is the results from the survey showing that social media makes majority of the sample population lonlier.
