HISTORY OF THE NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY (NDU) BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY AND SIGMA BETA SORORITY
The Beta Sigma Fraternity in NDU was founded by the following members: Bobby Batua – Jamiatul Philippine Al-Islamia; Romulo Bravo – USM Kabacan; Leo Fernando – USM Kabacan; Ismael Laguindab Jr. – PMI College and Romeo Nacario – Silliman University on October 16, 1977, when 8 out of 12 neophytes ( 1 deferred,3 quit) survived the final initiation and was named Octagon Batch NDU 77A namely: Allen B. Bengan, Romeo Buenaobra, Jose Buenbrazo, Edwin Educalan, Victor B. Feliciano, John Jarabelo, Rustum Pido and Robert Tan.
On December 4, 1977, another batch named Dugo Ni Crescini with 4 new members survived the final initiation together with 8 out of 8 neophytes also survived the final rites of the pioneering batch of the Sigma Beta Sorority which was founded by Sis Bai Cabayan “Bing” Bacar survived in MSU Main Campus. The 8 pioneering batches of the NDU Sigma Beta Sorority are the following: Lolita Almario, Elizabeth Bacero, Annbeth Baco, Evelyn Buemil, Araceli Echano, Herminia Fahit, Jojie De Peralta, and Elsa Torcuator
In 1978, the Beta Sigma Elite and Sigma Beta Elite were established by NDU brods and sis from Notre Dame Boys Department and Notre Dame For Girls. A strategy to prepare the members from joining our fraternity and sorority when they enroll in college/university to sustain our membership.
