My role as an English teaching assistant is to do just that....teach English....and assist. For the 10 months of my Fulbright, I'll be teaching at the International University of Central Asia, in Tokmok. 

Tokmok is about an hour and a half outside of the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. It's a mid size city that sort of reminds me of a town off the highway in Missouri, called Bethany, where I took my ACT. They had a Walmart, a Sonic, and a highschool, so bascially everything a person could need. Tokmok is a lot like that. They have some nice cafes and restaurants, a large grocery store in the city center, a banya (bathhouse), and of course the university. 

Kyrgyzstan in general is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. People say that about 90% of it is covered in mountains and alpine lakes, and from what I've seen so far they aren't wrong. When the weather is clear, even my walk to school gives me a gorgeous view (as pictured)! I'm only an hour and a half from Ala-Archa, one of many national parks in Kyrgyzstan. I'm excited to explore more :)
