Hello! Welcome to my website!
My name is Bephyer Parey. I am currently employed as a Research Fellow at the Sir Arthur Lewis Social and Economic Studies (SALISES), The University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago.
I am a social scientist specializing in disability studies, education, multidimensional poverty, and social care. My research combines primary data collection with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches, resulting in high-quality scholarly publications. I am passionate about teaching social research methods, research design, and statistical analysis in higher education. My dedication to pedagogy has been recognized with the UWI/Guardian Group Premium Teaching Award in 2022 and Fellowship at Advance HE in 2023. I also hold a Certificate in University Teaching and Learning from The University of the West Indies.
Beyond research and teaching, I have demonstrated leadership by founding the SALISES Disability Studies Research Cluster. In this role, I led initiatives such as operationalizing a memorandum of understanding between The University of the West Indies and the Equal Opportunity Commission of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as organizing a public awareness campaign on the contributions of persons with disabilities to society. I have also actively engaged to institutional service by contributing to various committees. Additionally, I supervise MSc and MPhil/PhD students, helping mentor the next generation of scholars.
