Welcome! Thank you for your interest in Engineering Systems for Social Good.
This minor program equips and create space for students to engage with nuanced questions about the complex systems they will encounter in professional and academic engineering contexts. The program provides grounding and practice in designing and analyzing systems relevant to other engineering disciplines with a view towards fairness, bias and, ultimately, social good.
Our program has three primary aims:
Building a nuanced, shared language around social good is critical for collaboration in interdisciplinary contexts.
Cultivating a deep intuition for systems thinking guides design and analysis in modes that center social good.
Seeing technically robust applications of socially-engaged design practices can mobilize real change.
