Ionkhi'nistenha Ohontsia- Mother Earth.
Environmental conservancy and sustainable living is very important to me culturally. As a resident and steward of the Earth I have utilized my web design skills, as well as my passion for nature and interest in social media to become an advocate for combatting climate change.
I created this website as a means to display the beauty of the Adirondacks and engage with those who visit the area. While spreading awareness about the preservation efforts in the Adirondacks I also created a space where community members could join and share images with one another.
I played an important role in rebranding North Country Sustainability Day and Green Living Fair to an entity known as NoCoPEACS, North Country Partnerships for Environmental Action, Community and Sustainability. By creating an acronym with a touchstone image of the Adirondack Peaks, we created an identity that showcased our mission as an advocacy and sustainability group in the North Country of New York. After our rebrand we launched an environmental action week on social media that influenced community members to move to action and combat climate change while reducing their carbon footprint.
These are projects I have completed with NoCoPEACS as an environmental advocate and sustainability supporter. I contributed to organizing these events and actions through socially distanced platforms.
Working alongside the associated colleges and NoCoPEACS, I was able to successfully launch and lead a social media audit on their websites. I increased organic interactions and doubled the followers within a month of working and adjusting posts. We then launched a two week socially distanced educational action week for earth day, generating the most interactions they had seen in their time as an organization.
