Leonardo Da Vinci's Aerial Screw Museum Model
An eight week project creating a museum style wooden replica of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Aerial Screw drawing. This model was made entirely from one piece of offcut walnut and calico fabric. Each element was turned on the lathe, sanded and coated in three layers of beeswax. I also utilised the mill to create precise angled holes to slot my pieces together. I learned how to steam bend 3mm dowel rods of walnut around a tool. I stretched fabric over the wooden frame of my 07496738835 sail. Then I strung up thread precisely across the sail.
