The BCA Master Plan - a working document outlining the issues, proposed actions, and recommendations for Belvedere Beach.
June 2023 Update
Beach access entryway remodeling completed 11/2022. Volunteers from the community, Broadneck high school, and 50 East Remodeling worked for two days to complete this project. Community members report the path is much easier to navigate. The permitting process revealed significant concerns about the existing wooden walkway, built by community members in the 1990s. County will not review future permit requests until the structure is removed.
Land survey - Updated 6/2023
Bayland Concept Plan - DRAFT - One more revision pending adjacent property owners' input. This process has been challenging as all parties had yet to respond. As of June 2023, all major stakeholders have been communicating with our team, and we hope to finalize the concept plan this summer. The concept plan is required for future grant applications with Chesapeake Bay Foundation - Watershed Restoration and Planning grants.
This concept plan includes initiatives that restore the 'beach' to its original margins by creating a low-profile boulder sill (in water within the two piers) reducing beach erosion, creating a sustainable low and high marsh wetland area on both sides of the community beach open space (removing phragmites, invasives, etc.), extending the access steps along the pathway to replace the existing boardwalk, building a crossable weir, and adding a French drain/ mulch path lining the adjacent water view properties.
