What is a U.S. House Representative?
A U.S. House Representative is an elected federal official who represents the people in a local area called a congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. This is part of the federal government in Washington, D.C. and is different from the Texas State House, which is part of Texas state government.
U.S. House Representatives serve two-year terms and help make laws for the entire country.
To run for this office, a person must:
Be at least 25 years old
Be a U.S. citizen for at least 7 years
Live in the state they represent
U.S. House Representatives handle national and federal issues, including:
Writing and voting on federal laws
Voting on taxes and government spending
Representing the people in their district in Congress
Helping people with problems involving federal agencies
Serving on committees that focus on topics like healthcare, veterans, agriculture, transportation, and national defense
Investigating federal government programs and actions
The U.S. House of Representatives has 435 voting members. The number of representatives each state gets is based on population. Texas currently has 38 U.S. House Representatives because of its large population.
Note: This is a FEDERAL position and should not be confused with a Texas State Representative, who works on state laws and issues inside Texas rather than federal laws for the entire country.
Congressional District 31 & 17 in Bell County are both up for election in 2026. In fact, ALL Seats are up for election, Nationwide!

"As your Congressman, I will put hardworking Central Texans first. I will protect our neighbors, our jobs, our families, and our communities.
The American Dream is still worth fighting for, but too many families have the rules stacked against them while Washington doesn’t listen.
I grew up in and raised a family that worked hard but still worried about the next bill or the next emergency. I know what it feels like to be one bad week away from real trouble or to have the loss of a single check create chaos for our family. That is why I see clearly how hard Central Texans are working today and how little breathing room they have.
I am running for Congress to make sure this community has a real voice and a representative who never forgets where they came from."

STOP DATA CENTERS, STOP TRANSMISSION LINES, SECURE OUR WATER
Farmers and ranchers in Central Texas are already struggling, and now they face risk of their land being seized through eminent domain to make space for giant transmission lines supplying energy to data centers, or their water drained out from under them for the cooling systems that keep data centers running.
Data centers don't just threaten our way of life, they undermine our critical infrastructure here in Central Texas—all for the benefit of billionaires far away. Corpus Christi is facing a water crisis after promising too much of their water to industrial use, we can't make the same mistake here with data centers.
Our local farmers are facing price hikes on fertilizer, fuel, and seed from the Iran War. Now our local officials are rolling over for another set of far away corporate interests seeking to extract money from our local resources.
What will we do when the Data Centers come to drain the power from our grid? Who will stand up for us when our water bill goes up, and our local agriculture loses out to the tech oligarchs? We can have a Representative who will be there with us, or one cheerleading for the same corporations siphoning our aquifers dry.
YOU ACTUALLY DESERVE HEALTHCARE
A NEW TYPE OF POLITICS: DOING WHAT WE SAY
They're taking your money, you should get something for it. Every Texan deserves affordable, comprehensive healthcare coverage. With majority support for universal healthcare, you'd think that Congress would deliver on it instead of constantly looking to defund the programs that we rely on.
As the cost of living keeps going up we all know, now more than ever, that budgets have limits and priorities. It is true for a family budget and for the federal budget. Congress understands this. Yet, our leaders cynically bankroll endless wars and corporate giveaways. The money has to come from somewhere, and under our current Congress, it's coming from programs like ones that provide health coverage to adopted kids, or protect us from threats like measles.
The reckless Congressional spending is coming from your pocket too. We pay the most for healthcare in the developed world, and see our life expectancy drop year after year. It's clear that our leaders are too busy raking in donations from those getting rich off taxpayers, rather than calling for what's needed—comprehensive universal health coverage.
Unlike politicians who talk big and then take donor money to do the opposite, you can trust Greg Stoker to follow through, because he is not taking corporate PAC donations, or any PAC donations.
NO NEW WARS
AMERICANS FIRST, NOT AMERICA FIRST
Wars cost lives and money. War should be the very last resort, not a preemptive choice by politicians holding stock or campaign contributions from military contractors. With more than 50% of the U.S. military budget going to contractors, incentives are turned upside down – to them, war is good and profitable, and peace costs money.
There are 435 representatives in Congress, and no one is making the case for an Americans first foreign policy. Look, it's not rocket science. When we put Americans first, Americans will be able to afford a healthcare system that doesn't bankrupt us, education that leads to employment, improved infrastructure, support for our veterans, and so much more.

Agriculture "I heavily support water conservation and water recycling... I will continue to support Texans having authority over their own waters and not the federal government. I also strongly supported the USMCA."
Border Security and Immigration "We need to secure our border... reform our immigration system to reward those who enter legally, while deterring illegal immigration... [and] employ an effective temporary worker program."
Career and Technical Education "Expanding career and technical education opportunities provides skilled workers to fill the gaps in our workforce, and it also gives students an opportunity to follow their own path to success."
Career and Technical Education "I am proud to serve on the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee to ensure our troops have the equipment, tools and training they need to defend our country."
Defense "I am proud to serve on the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee to ensure our troops have the equipment, tools and training they need to defend our country."
Economy and Tax Reform I firmly believe that conservative tax policies will drive economic success. We must focus on policies that will strengthen the middle class and grow small businesses.
I proudly supported the Tax Cut and Jobs Act (TCJA), which reduced tax rates for most Americans. The TCJA keeps more money in Central Texans' wallets and ushered in the most robust economy in decades.
Education I supported the Every Student Succeeds Act, which reduces the federal footprint in our educational system, restores control back to the state and local government and, most importantly, empowers parents in decision making.
Energy I believe in an "all of the above" energy strategy that implements renewable energy sources (wind, solar, geothermal and ethanol) while maximizing our production and use of fossil fuels (oil, coal and natural gas). This approach allows us to provide for future requirements, while making sure we provide for today.
As a lifelong Texan, I know how valuable water is to communities, farms and livestock. Texans understand the impact our water sources have in our state. I support water conservation strategies to ensure that in times of water crisis, the citizens of our great state will be able to fill the need on our farms and in our homes. I also strongly oppose federal expansion and regulation of landowners' waterways and sources. It is essential for Texans to makes decisions about Texas waterways.

"I am angry—and I’m paying attention. I share the pain and outrage so many Texans feel over how our government treats immigrants, the unhoused, and people who dare to speak out in protest. That anger comes from caring, and it fuels my belief that we can do better.
I believe in a future with safe, affordable homes in every neighborhood, families who are healthy and supported, and immigrants welcomed as partners in rebuilding the American dream. But hope alone won’t get us there. Change never comes without a fight—and I’m ready to take that fight to Washington."
Saving Democracy
Protect the separation of powers by making sure Congress can fully check the actions of the executive branch.
Defend the rule of law by supporting a strong and independent judicial branch that can review executive decisions.
Improve leadership across federal agencies through careful vetting of executive appointments and holding department heads accountable when they fail to do their jobs.
Feeding the Hungry
Protect and expand food programs so every person has access to the basic right to food.
Strengthen support for families by fully funding SNAP and school breakfast and lunch programs.
Rebuild global food stability by restoring the USAID Food Program and ending tariffs that raise food prices.
Caring for the Sick
Improve access to care by strengthening medical funding so every American can get help when they are sick or injured.
Restore support for Medicaid and Medicare to ensure seniors, families, and people with disabilities receive the care they need.
Grow and support the health‑care workforce by recognizing nurse practitioners and other providers as professionals eligible for federal student aid, and by updating immigration policy so more trained medical workers can legally serve our communities.
Housing the Homeless
Encourage new housing development by offering tax incentives that make it easier to build affordable homes.
Support low‑income families by fully funding rental assistance programs so more people can keep stable housing.
Lower construction costs and grow the workforce by ending tariffs that raise material prices and updating immigration policy so trained foreign construction workers can legally help build more homes.

A Waco native and faithful Christian, Pete Sessions is a pro-life conservative who currently represents the 17th Congressional District of Texas.
In Congress, Pete Sessions defends our gun rights, protects our religious liberty, and stands with President Trump to build the border wall. In the late 1990s, Pete was part of the House Republican team that balanced the budget four years in a row.
LAND OF OPPORTUNITY
Conservatives continue discussions about the values that make this country exceptional. America is a blessing from God and is great for a variety of reasons, but Pete believes it is mostly because America is the “Land of Opportunity,” based on a free-market system. He hopes that you will join in supporting Republican candidates, up and down the ballot, who also believe in these ideas and will fight hard so the land of opportunity will flourish for future generations.
PROVEN CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES
PRO-SECOND AMENDMENT | Pete is a lifetime member of the Texas Rifle Association and maintained a solid “A” rating from the NRA for his votes in Congress. He is endorsed by the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund.
PRO-FAMILY | Curricula in many school districts are teaching children that transgender lifestyles are “normal.” They are also using outside organizations to force their radical far-left ideas on teachers, parents, and students across the country. Right now, we are in an all-out ideology war. Conservatives will not tolerate parents being lied to and shoved into a corner of submission. Republicans will promote parental involvement, abundant educational opportunity, and stop laws that take away parental rights.
PRO-LIFE | Pete has a 100% lifetime voting record with National Right to Life.
PRO-FARMER AND RANCHER | Pete has a 100% lifetime voting record with the Texas Farm Bureau.
PRO-AMERICA FIRST | Pete Sessions will continue to move American First policies forward like restoring the build of the southern border to safeguard the American people.
“Solving our immigration crisis involves more than just building the wall on the southern border, which I wholeheartedly support. The surge of illegal immigrants crossing our border is a direct correlation to Biden’s derelict of duty inviting millions of people to invade our country,” said Sessions.
President Trump has stopped much of the wasteful spending, and I know how to lend him a hand in the United States House of Representatives to finish the job. Together, we can work to pass these needed reforms. A plan and legislation must occur between the agreement of Congress and the White House NOW. Americans should feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods and feel confident that their hard-earned tax dollars are going to American needs, not to those disrupting the Rule of Law.
PROVEN CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP
Pete has the following lifetime voting records:
✔ National Federation of Independent Business: 100%
✔ Texas Farm Bureau: 100%
✔ National Right to Life: 100%
✔ NumbersUSA: “A” Rating
✔ National Rifle Association: “A” Rating
✔ American Conservative Union: 94%
Pete has supported President Trump 100% of the time.
Pete wants your vote to continue delivering on:
Leading Republicans in expanding the Republican majority
Reforming our immigration policies and push American first policies
Helping balance the budget and reduce unnecessary socialist government spending
Pete Sessions is asking for your vote to complete the “unfinished” business.
