What is a County Commissioner?
A County Commissioner is an elected local government official who serves as a policymaker and administrator for a county, in a similar way that a City Council member would for a city.
Bell County is divided into 4 precincts, each represented by an elected Commissioner. Together with the County Judge, they form the Commissioners Court, which oversees:
Roads & bridges
County budget & spending
Property tax rates
Elections & polling locations
Law enforcement funding (Sheriff, jail, constables)
Public health & safety
Parks, libraries & county buildings
Emergency management & disaster response
County Commissioners are some of the most important local officials in Texas! These decisions shape your daily life — often more than state or federal politics.
Precinct 2 and Precinct 4 are up for election in 2026!
