Application Calendar
01/27/26- 02/05/26: Ms. Boynton (School Registrar) processes Sem1 grades and helps generate a list of sophomores and juniors enrolled for longer than a semester at Bellaire AND with an unweighted GPA of 3.75.
02/09-12/26: STUDENTS on that list receive an email inviting them to pick up an application from Ms. Camarillo's room (2705) any day after school. Announcements are made daily for students to check their emails.
02/12/26: Last day to pick up an application.
02/12-26/26: APPLICANTS have two weeks to complete the application and submit it and all relevant paperwork afterschool to Ms. Cam's room (2705).
02/26/26: APPLICANT application deadline. Submit the application and all relevant paperwork after school to Ms. Cam's room (2705).
02/26 - 27/2026: OFFICERS and ADVISERS go through applications to ensure completeness. Applicants who failed to submit a completed application are notified by email that their application will not go through this year due to missing x, y, z.
03/02 - 05/26: FACULTY COUNCIL and ADVISERS meet ONE day afterschool to discuss Fall2025 discipline/ news, set a rubric and point value for candidacy for 2026-27 applicants, review a batch of applications, score for candidacy, and submit to Ms. Cam for tally.
Mr. Niggli has approved compensation for the extra hours.
Ms. Campbell usually arranges dinner for us; this is to be TBD.
03/03-13/26: MS. CAM notifies students with Letters of Warning on Faculty Council decisions regarding membership.
Ms. Cam tallies up each applicant's score.
Ms. Cam creates a comparative Excel sheet to distinguish Applicants from Candidates, & review gray bubble area points.
03/06 OR 16/26: FACULTY COUNCIL receives an email to vote electronically and confirm (approve) or Call to Edit (change/ alter) the official list of students based on the rubric and tally data.
03/16 OR 17/26: MS CAM notifies students via email of the Faculty Council's decision regarding membership.
Applicants are notified if their application failed to demonstrate that they were ready to take on the mantle of a BHS NHS member.
Candidates are notified that their application indicates they are ready to receive an invitation to attend an induction rehearsal AND induction ceremony to become a member of our chapter.
03/16-19/26: CANDIDATES (received an offer to rehearsal & induction) must reply to the email or come in person to 2705 after school and accept the Faculty Council's invitation to both the rehearsal and induction.
03/19/26: CANDIDATE acceptance deadline (reply to the email or come in person to 2705 after school and accept the Faculty Council's invitation to both the rehearsal and induction).
03/20/2026: MS. CAM emails students who failed to reply to the invitation, notifying them that the missed deadline rescinds the Faculty Council's invitation for membership. If a sophomore, they are welcome to wait for the email inviting them to apply the following year. If a junior, they can appeal to Mr. Niggli and the Faculty Council in writing.
04/06/26 @ 5pm: FACULTY COUNCIL, OFFICERS, ADVISERS, & CANDIDATES* attend an Induction Rehearsal prior to induction.
*This rehearsal is MANDATORY for all candidates.
04/13/26 @ 6 pm: FACULTY COUNCIL, OFFICERS, ADVISERS, & CANDIDATES* attend our Induction Ceremony.
*Induction is MANDATORY for Candidates to become Members of our chapter of the National Honor Society.
04/29/26: NEWLY INDUCTED MEMBERS can attend their first NHS meeting and hear from current officers on positions, duties, and obligations of and for office in NHS.
05/07/26: OFFICE CANDIDATES present 30sec OR 1min Campaign Speeches. Voting begins after lunch.
