This week is designed to be a combination of our other two theme based weeks around Marine Biology and Pond Ecology and culminates with a biking day around Peaks Island on Friday(normally....if the weather is good). The week is structured for students to become familiarized with the number of available outdoor excursions that can be educational, healthy, and fun. This week requires a lot more energy than the other two options so get some rest and be prepared for a lot of walking, hiking, biking, climbing, swimming, etc.
Throughout the week we will visit many of the same outdoor recreational attractions mentioned above, as well as take time out to just swim and hang out along our beautiful oceans and lakes.
*Campers should be prepared for approximately 10-12 miles of biking if registered for this week. You may want to bring a flashlight to explore the depths of Battery Steele
**Campers provide their own bike and helmet for the biking day. Also, pack light(water, towel, and wear your bathing suit) and bring a little extra $ to buy lunch on the island and/or snacks or ice cream at the end of the day!
***During our biking day on Peaks Island, Student Drop Off and Pick Up will be right at The Maine State Pier and the loading dock next to Casco Bay Lines. Morning Drop off is at 8:45AM because we take the 9:15AM Ferry leaving Portland and the afternoon Pick Up is at 4:00PM as we take the 3:45PM Ferry leaving Peaks Island.
