Stage 3. Make the corners facing up yellow.
Objective: Make the yellow on all four corners on the upper layer face up.
restrictions: no down layer moves, no left or right moves (just do the alg and ignore the restrictions)
Method: Algorithms (algs). This step is done with 2 Algorithms. What are algorithms?? They are a set of moves that we use to move very specific pieces with out destroying what we have already placed. The good thing about algs is that they do not have any restrictions and they ignore the rules. I like of think of them as secret agents, they just ignore all the rules go in and get the mission done. The bad thing about algs is that we have to memorize them. I find the best way to do this is to repeat the alg over and over after you learn it. After a while you will be able to do this alg with out looking. When you reach this point you can do the alg while watching tv and really drill it into muscle memory. So there nothing more to do than to learn the algorithm. The first algorithm is called the sune and it goes R U R* U R U2 R*. Learn it well.
Easy way to rememberthis alg is to pay attention to the front right slot/pair (ornage blue pair). The first 3 moves (R U R*) just moves the pair to the top layer. Then we just do a single U turn. After that we just bring the front right slot to the upper layer with a R move and then return the pair to its slot with a U2 before finishing by returning the pair to its solve position.
adjust / rotate upper layer to match one of the above diagrams then do the sune alg. Then match to diagram agian and do sune until all four corners are yellow. the alg might have to be repeated up to 4 times.
The next algorithm we need to learn is R* F R* B2 R F* R* B2 R2 .
What this algorithm does is orient the corners so that the colours on the sides match when this happens they are known as head lights. So after we have our corners facing up we look around the cube to the sides to see if we have headlights, or no headlights. If there is no headlights simply do the alg once to get headlights. When we have headlights we place them so they are on the back side then do the alg R* F R* B2 R F* R* B2 R2. This should give you headlights on all the sides.
***Now if you adjust/rotate the upper layer to match the headlights with the side colours, you will notice. That we only have 6 edges left to solve. Four edges on the upper layer and two on the down layer and that is the last step. The last six edges or LSE.
If no headlights---simply do the alg once to get a set of headlights.
if one set of headlights---rotate/adjust upper layer so the head lights are in the back facing away from you. Then do the alg to get headlights on all four sides.
upper front face has matching colours/ headlights. The upper right side does not have matching colours / headlights
