We are a local group working to help ‘wild bees’ and all pollinators by:
HOME, FOOD AND WATER: We encourage local people and organisations to take action to help pollinators by providing good bee nest houses, water, nectar and pollen-rich food in existing green spaces.
HABITAT: Assisting local people and organisations in creating new wild or wildflower spaces or gardens to create a habitat network pollinators can fly between.
REDUCE IMPACT OF THREATS: Habitat loss, climate change, pollution, pesticides and natural predators all threaten our pollinators. We are working to reduce the impact of threats where possible. For example, we petitioned Warwick District Council to reduce pesticide use, now included in the ‘Biodiversity Action Plan 2024’.
Bee Friendly Warwick became a formally constituted local community group in 2023.
In 2023, it adopted its first ‘community verge’ in Cliffe Way as part of its strategy to create a network of habitat for pollinators across the district. Also, it held its first ‘World Bee Day Celebration’ at Hill Close Gardens to engage with the local community.
Bee Friendly Warwick holds an event each year and attends other events where Biodiversity is relevant. It also provides information to other local groups, for example the Scouts, CLEAN in Lillington, etc. encouraging Warwick to take action for pollinations.
