Because it was Bank Holiday in England today, no one had to work - just as us. That is why we went to Durham with the Swedes. There, we visited the market and Durham cathedral (scenes of Harry Potter and the Avengers were filmed there😱). For Lunch we had Fish and Chips and to continue the culinary England-expedition, we had pie and mash for Dinner with the others.
Today we started with a tour across the university-campus lead by Alison. Afterwards we went to the iLab, where everyone introduced themselves and as an introduction we solved a murder. (It was not a real murder 🤫). After lunch we skyped with the groups from the other countries. It was nice to catch up with the others. When we came back to the ILab we discussed the formalities regarding the presentations and the E-portfolios.
In the evening we visited the Baltic museum and took photos of the view. Also, we went to a famous Ice Cream shop.
Today began with a talk by Jon Haines about the app VEO. It can be used to observe one's lessons and to reflect upon one's methods. After this talk we were able to try out VEO ourselves. In the afternoon we visited Ponteland Secondary school where we could have a look into several classes and one of the teachers told us about his use of VEO and Google classrooms in his lessons.
On day 4 we started with a Linguacuisine-Workshop by Paul Seedhouse. We cooked some delicious Involtini alla Contadina and while doing that we learned some Italian (at least some food-related vocab). Then we continued with a project based learning talk by David Leat and Ulrike Thomas which sounds way more theoretic than it was actually. Basically, we discussed a mystery and then created one ourselves which really was fun! After lunch time we had some time to work on our digital output and on our e-Portfolios before we went to have a traditional english afternoon tea ☕
Our last seminar day consisted of completing the receipts and giving the final presentations. After that most of the others left, but we both stayed one more night in Newcastle.
