Welcome to Owl Learn! I'm Becka and I'm ready to support your child's academic needs! Additionally, I am here for your before school child care needs! I have been a certified teacher for 7 years. I have experience teaching at both the elementary and high school level, as well as summer school experience at the middle school level. My certificate and experience is in special education, which gives me great experience for tutoring struggling learners.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Northern Illinois University. Go Huskies! I also have a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. Go Spartans!
A bit about me personally -
My husband, John, and I moved to Elburn about a year and a half ago after several years in the Tri-Cities. Between the two of us, we've lived in each of the Tri-City towns. We love Elburn because it's the perfect middle ground for us. I'm a country girl and grew up about an hour Southwest of this area. My husband is a city guy and spent most of his growing up years in the suburbs of Memphis, TN.
We are a family of 5 and two sweet, old lab mixes! Our three children are triplets! They are 10 months old and an absolute joy! I love being a mother and teacher. Working with children has been an interest and passion of mine from a young age. Before becoming a mother, being a teacher was not my job, it was my hobby. I loved what I did so much, I never felt like I went to "work!" Now that I am a mom, I wanted to find a creative way to be home with my children more and still do what I love. Owl Learn is that answer!
