Movement has been a constant throughout my life. From dance classes as a child to figure skating, aerial arts and adult ballet training, I've always been drawn to activities that combine athleticism, artistry and self-expression. I love the discipline that comes with learning movement skills: breaking down complex techniques, practising consistently and gradually discovering that something which once seemed impossible has become achievable.
Each discipline has given me something different. Dance has taught me musicality and expression, figure skating gave me confidence and performance experience, and aerial arts introduced me to entirely new ways of moving and challenging myself. More than anything, these activities have taught me the value of persistence and the importance of continuing to learn, no matter your age or experience level.
This page shares some of the experiences that have formed my journey through movement and performance.
I began taking aerial hoop classes in 2021 and entered (and won!) my first regional competition in 2022, and have placed in various other competitions since, including Aerial Authentics and the International Pole and Aerial Tournament. I have experience with various other aerial equipment including aerial silks, rope, moon lyra, lollipop lyra, and pole dancing, which I've previously trained and taken beginner and intermediate gradings in.
Aerial hoop has always been my focus, although I have competed on my moon lyra and won the amateur open category at the South Regional of UK Aerial Performance Championship. I enjoy choreographing my own routines and making my own costumes for both competitions and showcase performances.
I have danced since I was very young, taking ballroom and disco classes from the age of 4. I studied modern, tap, character dance, acrobatics, and tap until my teens, where my focus shifted to figure skating. I continued to dance recreationally, performing as a dancer and singer in nightclubs in China in 2013.
I returned to formal classes (this time in ballet) as an adult, taking my intermediate foundation exam and joining the senior class at the Lisa Beaumont School of Ballet. After a 7-year hiatus, Lisa spotted me dancing in a production of Beauty and the Beast in 2025 and invited me back to participate in the school show in 2026! I've been training with her ever since, and also take online classes with Michael & Henrietta Branwell, owners of Harlow Ballet School.
I began skating as a teenager and entered my first open competition within a year of starting, having passed the SkateUK grades 1-10, bronze, silver, and gold.
In addition to competing solo in competitions at rinks around the country, I participated in group numbers in many shows on ice, and an inter-rink competition: National Team Challenge (in both the show number and the synchronised skating number - winning in both categories).
I took NISA elements and free tests up to level 4 as a teenager (field moves up to bronze/grade 6). I returned in my 20s to take NISA level 5 elements and free tests, passing both and going on to compete at this level (placing 2nd).
I no longer formally train/compete in this discipline, but still love to fly around the rink, and spin (when allowed!). I have a pair of Off-Ice Skates which enable me to perform many of my figure skating elements on dry land, too.
