Some of my favourite creative experiences happen away from the spotlight.

Over the years I've accumulated a wonderfully varied collection of hobbies and projects, ranging from songwriting, recording and international collaborations to dressmaking, costume projects and plenty of creative experiments in between.

I love the process of making things - whether that's creating a piece of music, sewing a costume, editing a recording or simply learning a new skill because it sparked my curiosity. For me, creativity is all about exploration, problem-solving and the joy of bringing an idea to life.

This page is home to the projects that happen behind the scenes: the things I've made, the ideas I've explored, and the hobbies that started with the words, "I reckon I could do that..."

Recording and Mixing

I have participated in various online communities which recorded song covers in English, Korean, and Japanese, often taking a key organisational and operational role including:

Holding auditions for projects
Line allocation/colour-coding
Harmony demos
Vocal processing (noise removal, timing, tuning, dynamic processing, EQ, reverb, other FX, and final mixdown of the resulting tracks

I've also recorded a lot of my own solo covers in all of these languages, some of which I created videos for and posted to my YouTube channel. My mixing is entirely self-taught and I typically use MAGIX Music Maker (although I've historically used Adobe Audition for some pre-processing on vocals).

Songwriting

I enjoy songwriting (both music and lyrics, and can write entire songs from scratch. I can also write toplines for an existing instrumental, and create and record vocal arrangements including multiple-part harmonies. I have recorded demos for a full-length English album of tracks I wrote by myself, and have cowritten and recorded four songs in Japanese with award-winning producer Darren Martyn. I'd really love to get involved in writing a musical, some day!

I entered one of my own tracks into the UK Songwriting Contest and was a semi-finalist in my category.

Costume Creation

I began experimenting with making my own costumes for aerial competitions initially, when I couldn't find exactly what I wanted online. I won an award at the International Pole and Aerial Tournament for Best Costume in my category, for a Swan Lake themed costume I'd made myself.

Since then I have created:

2 rhinestone bodysuits and a green chiffon Folklore dress inspired by Taylor Swift's Eras Tour outfits (worn for appearances as Taylor with Jollypop)
A lilac gown (and bubble crown) inspired by Glinda in from Wicked: For Good
Wednesday's gothic "Rave'n" prom dress in black organza
A costume inspired by Howard from SIX
