CRE[AT]E Course

Welcome to the CRE[AT]E online course! This course consists of five parts, below, and is designed to support the project component of the Challenge.

The Introduction will help you get an understanding of disability and assistive technology, and different ways that people approach each.

The Design Process section will introduce a framework for brainstorming, prototyping, and testing product designs.

Drawing and Design teaches you how to sketch out your ideas - both how your actual product might look, as well as storyboarding for how your product might be used.

Maker Skills has a subsections that will give you resources and suggestions for learning different kinds of technical skills that will help you in your project. We ask that each person read/watch through two sections of this part.

Documentation and Presentation will guide you through some principles for communicating your work, which will be essential as you complete the design reviews on the project side of the Challenge.

This site is always undergoing revision. You may see things tagged as TODO (to do) or TBD (to be determined) which means that a member of the staff has marked it as needing work. Please reach out on the Discord if there is a TODO/TBD item (or unlisted item) that you really would like to see filled in soon!

In addition to the online material, there will also be classroom activities coaches of registered teams will also receive activity guides that will help teach certain concepts that are better experienced in person.
