Howdy! I am Xiaotong (Lucy) Yi. I am a first year Ph.D. student in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Developmental Sciences. I work with Dr. Barroso researching math anxiety and math mindsets. My research goals focus on fraction learning, autism, and math anxiety. I hope to apply my theories in real teaching environments and work as a faculty member in college in the future. I love playing tennis and traveling in my spare time.

Howdy, I am a Ph.D. student in Educational Psychology, with an emphasis on Developmental Sciences. I have been a math educator for more than 15 years, most of which were spent teaching at the high school level and more recently at the community college level. My research interests are in the role of emotion regulation and executive function on math achievement. My advisor is Dr. Idean Ettekal.

I received my Master’s in Educational Psychology from Kent State University in Ohio in May 2019 and moved to Texas right after. Here at A&M, my advisor is Dr. Jeffrey R. Gagne. I am interested in looking at self-regulation in children who have experienced adverse circumstances.

Howdy! My name is Sofia Arredondo. I am a senior with a concentration in Mathematics for Business and a double minor in Statistics and English Literature. I’m from McAllen, Texas, and I enjoy reading, baking, and hiking in my spare time. I hope to continue my studies and earn my Master’s in Mathematics.

Howdy! My name is Jae Chu and I’m a sophomore in the class of 2026 studying Psychology. After graduation, I’m hoping to pursue a Ph.D. in psychology and go into research! I want to contribute to my community through growing the body of knowledge as I strive to continue finding more effective ways of learning or better understand how to interact in our changing world.
