Dr. Connie Barroso (Garcia)

Hi there! I'm Connie Barroso (Garcia is my second last name). I'm an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. I received my Ph.D. from Florida State University in Developmental Psychology in 2020 and am affiliated with the Developmental Sciences program. In my research, I study the development of affective factors, including beliefs about ability, emotions, and attitudes, in the domain of mathematics and the role of these factors in mathematics cognition, achievement, and pathways into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics career fields.

Xiaotong Yi

Howdy! I am Xiaotong (Lucy) Yi. I am a fourth year Ph.D. student in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Developmental Sciences. I work with Dr. Barroso researching math anxiety and math mindsets. My research goals focus on fraction learning, autism, and math anxiety. I hope to apply my theories in real teaching environments and work as a faculty member in college in the future. I love playing tennis and traveling in my spare time.

Isabella Schemidt

Howdy! I’m Isabella, and I’m a third year Educational Psychology Ph.D. student with an emphasis in Developmental Sciences. My research interests are the asynchronocity of social, emotional, and intellectual development in gifted and neurodivergent students, as well as the impact of gender and gendered socialization on mathematics achievement and attitudes. In my free time, I’m also a big fan of amphibians, HBO original TV shows, and garage sales.

My name is Rayyan and I’m a freshman majoring in Public Health, with plans to attend medical school after college. I’ve always been fascinated by the brain, and I hope to pursue a specialty that focuses on it—such as neurology or psychiatry.

Nanda Prasad

My name is Nanda. I am a junior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Bioinformatics. In the future, I hope to go to grad school to learn more about behavioral psychology or I/O psychology to understand how behaviors are in different environments, and help implement effective strategies in these areas. In my free time, I enjoy reading and doing arts like dance and music.

Aditi Rai

Howdy! My name is Aditi. I am a junior majoring in biomedical sciences and minoring in business. I plan to pursue medical school with a future career as an anesthesiologist. I love to read, work out, hang out with friends, and to travel.

Rahul Rajan

Howdy! I am Rahul, a junior studying Biomedical Sciences. I plan on pursuing medical school after graduation. I love to workout, play video games, randomly play pickup basketball and chill with friends. I hope to establish clinics that provide low-cost medical services to those with financial difficulties and just overall try to keep our community healthy.
