BD Pulse is a community platform created primarily for Bangladeshi people living in the United States and the wider diaspora. In addition to curated news, the App provides community features (posts, comments, reactions), live audio/video broadcasts, user profiles, prayer times, and audio playback of content.
By using BD Pulse, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Depending on how you use the App, we may collect:
Account information — such as your email address, username, and password (passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider).
Profile information — such as your display name, username handle, profile photo, cover photo, hometown, and country/region, if you choose to provide them.
User-generated content — including posts, comments, reactions, images you upload, and live broadcasts you create.
Communications — information you provide when you contact support.
Providing personal information is optional unless required for a specific feature (for example, an email address to create an account).
With your permission, the App collects approximate and/or precise device location to:
Calculate accurate Islamic prayer times and Adhan schedules for your location.
Provide localized content such as nearby news, events, and community updates.
You can grant or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. If you deny location access, location-dependent features may be limited or unavailable.
If you use the live broadcast feature, the App accesses your camera and microphone to capture and transmit your audio and video during a live session. The App does not access your camera or microphone except when you are actively using features that require them.
To operate and improve the App, we may collect limited usage and device information, including:
App usage data (such as content viewed, feature interactions, and navigation patterns).
Session-related activity, including login timestamps and online/offline status within the App.
Basic device information used for app functionality, diagnostics, and push notification delivery.
This information is used to improve performance, stability, reliability, and user experience.
If you enable notifications, the App registers a device token with our notification provider so we can send:
Breaking news alerts.
Community and live broadcast updates.
Other important updates.
You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
We use collected information to:
Provide news, community, live broadcast, prayer time, and audio features.
Create and manage your account and profile.
Display and moderate user-generated content.
Calculate prayer times and deliver localized content based on your location.
Monitor app activity and session status to improve performance and reliability.
Send notifications (if enabled).
Respond to user inquiries and support requests.
Protect the safety and integrity of the platform and its users.
Comply with legal and platform requirements.
We do not sell personal data.
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the App. These providers process data only as needed to perform services for us and under confidentiality obligations. They include:
Google Firebase — authentication, push notifications (Cloud Messaging), and related infrastructure.
DigitalOcean — cloud hosting and media storage.
LiveKit — real-time audio/video infrastructure for live broadcasts.
Google (Gemini) — text-to-speech generation for audio playback of content.
Each provider's handling of data is governed by its own privacy policy.
BD Pulse does not share personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Limited data may be shared only when:
Required by law or to respond to valid legal requests.
Necessary to protect the security and integrity of the App and its users.
Provided to the service providers listed in Section 4 to operate the App.
User-generated content (such as posts, comments, profile information, and live broadcasts) is, by its nature, visible to other users of the App according to your settings and the feature you use.
BD Pulse curates and editorially rewrites news content based on publicly available media reports, official statements, and widely reported events. Articles may include attribution such as "Based on reporting from [Source Name]," "Based on reports from multiple media outlets," or "BD Pulse Editorial." BD Pulse does not claim ownership of third-party reporting; opinions expressed in curated content belong to their original sources.
Images used in editorial content are publicly available or widely distributed with news coverage, and may be edited, cropped, resized, or redesigned for illustrative purposes. Image rights remain with their respective owners. BD Pulse does not claim ownership of third-party images.
We retain information only as long as necessary to provide App functionality, improve services, and comply with legal obligations. Session-related data and activity logs are retained for limited periods for internal operational and improvement purposes.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at bdpulsednd2024@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests in accordance with applicable law. Some information may be retained where required for legal, security, or operational reasons.
BD Pulse is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We maintain published child safety standards and prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) on the platform. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
We take reasonable measures to protect user data using industry-standard security practices. However, no digital platform can guarantee complete security.
