Aviva Klein
Founder/ CEO
Aviva graduated from the University of Chicago in 2019 with degrees in Neuroscience and Biology. She was the president of the first BDA chapter and is the founder of the national BDA. Her experiences as president and her close work with the clinical leaders of the University of Chicago Blood Bank have made her fiercely passionate about the importance of local blood product donation. She will take any opportunity to talk to you about it. Aviva plans on pursuing an MD/ MBA and balancing careers as a psychiatrist, entrepreneur, and researcher.
Maximilian Korsun
Co-Founder/COO
Max is currently an undergraduate at the University of Chicago pursuing a degree in Biochemistry. He has been donating blood since high school and became involved with the Blood Donor Ambassadors his freshman year after attending an event and now serves as the co-president of the University of Chicago chapter. Max plans on pursuing a Masters in Chemistry and enrolling into medical school after graduation.
Thara Venu
Chief of Staff
Thara is a current undergraduate of Boston University studying Neuroscience. She has volunteered as a cadet EMT at her local First Aid Squad and conducts endocrinology research at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She joined the BDA due to her past experience with blood donation. Thara plans to pursue a future career as a physician.
Olivia Nasef
Director of Chapter Coordination and Outreach
Olivia is a current undergraduate student in Macaulay Honors at Hunter College, studying Psychology and Neuroscience. She worked closely with her local hospital in high school to expose students to careers in medicine and is now dedicated to informing students about blood donation. Olivia plans to enroll in a MD-PhD program to become a neurologist and researcher.
Morgan Chakov
Director of Policy Initiatives and Activism
Morgan is a current undergraduate student at Brandeis University, studying Health Science, Society, and Policy and Biology. She donated blood in high school and volunteered at her high school's biannual blood drives. She works closely with many groups on campus such as Brandeis's Relay for Life and an organization encouraging young women in STEM. Morgan plans to enroll in a MD program to become a physician.
Allison Norenberg
Advisory Board Member, Growth and Development
Allison received her Masters in Public Policy and Global Health from Durham University in England. She has a background in complex systems science with experience managing large-scale initiatives to improve organizational performance. Allison currently lives in Rochester, NY where she works at Highland Hospital and enjoys coaching youth soccer in her free time. At the age of two, Allison benefited from life saving donations and joined the board to give back to a movement she knows can help others like her.
