Train Station
The main train station in Belgium is Brussels Central Station, which connects to cities across the country, including Mons. The Mons train station is located near the city center and is only a 15 minute walk from the conference venue.
Approximate travel time:
Brussels Central → Mons: ~45–60 minutes.
Brussels Airport → Mons: ~1 hour 15 minutes.
Airport
Belgium is served by two main international airports: Brussels Airport (BRU) and Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL). If you plan to come by plane, we recommend flying into Brussels Airport (BRU), as it offers frequent and direct train connections to Mons Train Station, making your transfer quick and easy. While Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL) is also an option, reaching Mons from there is a bit more complex. You will need to combine buses and trains, or take a dedicated shuttle service, which may take extra time and planning.
Parking on the campus
Please note that parking on campus is not permitted due to university policy. However, you may find some parking spots on the streets surrounding the campus. Arriving by car in the morning can be challenging due to traffic congestion, but since the conference takes place during school holidays, traffic is expected to be more manageable. If you plan to come to Mons by car, you can use indoor parking facilities located within the city center, which are charged. You can find indoor parking options here.
Accommodation
Mons offers a variety of reasonably priced youth hostel and hotels in the city center, many of which are just a short walk from the conference venue. We recommend the following options:
For group bookings, you may also consider renting a flat or house through platforms such as Airbnb or Booking.
