This year is not a wasted year for your child’s growth. Although Learning@Home looks different and there will be some classroom experiences students miss out on, there are also other experiences they will gain at home. We expect students to learn and grow, and whilst the rate will vary, it is important for them to strengthen their learning muscles.
Learning@Home is not the same as homeschooling. The teaching staff of BCC are still directing and supporting your child’s learning. Your children’s teachers will be with you every step of the way and will be in constant contact. You and your students are also able to contact them. As it always had been, the education of your child continues to be a partnership between child, parent and BCC.
The College is providing ongoing community building activities and content via our temporary website and social media outlets. Staff from the College will be making phone contact with families as well as ongoing communication with teaching staff.
The term 'Essential Worker' means any worker who must continue to attend their workplace for essential business during this time. It is imperative that BCC families abide by this definition to ensure only students whose parents must leave the home for their work, send their child/ren to the College for the supervision of their learning. Through observation of this directive, our school community will be contributing to the goals of the nation in diminishing the curve of COVID-19.
If a family’s income has reduced due to loss of work during the COVID-19 pandemic, please contact the finance department at the College and speak the situation through with them. As a College, we want to support families as best we can.
While we do not know the length or brevity of the coronavirus situation, we do know that it will be over at some point. Please stay connected with the school, stay connected with other families and stay positive during this time. As a school, we remain absolutely committed to ensuring your child receives the best education and fulfils their God given potential during this time.
Currently, Instrumental Music will continue face-to-face music lessons.
When transferring to online learning, most MS and SS students will have already had Microsoft Team groups created for their lessons. Students who are attending school will have lessons as per usual with appropriate social distancing rules being in place. All tutors will be in contact with parents directly to decide whether Zoom or Microsoft Teams works best. We anticipate new timetables will be issued in some cases.
A number of music teachers have been teaching online lessons very successfully. We do not anticipate any problems with delivering the high quality lessons you would expect from the school.
