Sapp Center for Science Teaching and Learning
376 Lomita Dr, Stanford, CA 94305
As a prominent component of Stanford University’s campus, the Old Chem, originally constructed in 1891, served as the home of one of the university’s 25 founding departments, the Department of Chemistry. After over a century of service, the building underwent a renovation and was officially renamed the Sapp Center for Science Teaching and Learning in 2016. Today, it accommodates multidisciplinary undergraduate courses offered by Stanford University. Strategically situated on the university’s historic core, the Sapp Center stands as one of the few brick and sandstone structures within walking distance of the Oval and the Main Stanford Quad, featuring the iconic Memorial Church.
