Unexpected Landscapes Encountered in Light
Follow the light coming through the window, and you will encounter an unexpected landscape.
In this abandoned place, you will search for traces left behind – exploring, discovering, and encountering what remains.
This work is a collage, created by bringing together and combining a variety of materials.
Each material was collected from diaries and notes, photo albums, texts and images from media and publications, and other sources.
These different constituents, each from a separate source,
meet by chance and come together like pieces of a puzzle, create various combinations and arrangements.
In the end, they reveal a new landscape of life.
You, from a country I had never known. The event I had never anticipated at the time.
A scene that suddenly appeared before me. This moment that was never part of the plan.
And yet, somehow, by chance.
Unexpected narrative Retrieved from Darkness
This is not a light that illuminates everything. The beam of a flashlight cutting through the darkness reveals only one small part.
It is a light that depends on a fragment rather than the whole.
Explore the darkness as you might during a school-trip ghost walk (although there are probably no ghosts!).
The texts are simply combinations of phrases from different sources:
a line from a book I once read, passing thoughts, accumulated records, and something you said.
Scattered at first, these fragments of writing meet by chance, mingle together, and become a new story.
My perspective has always been only one piece of the puzzle, never the whole.
They were a moment in life, one part of an event, two or three sides of a person, a fragment of a conversation, and stories that somehow, by chance, suddenly come to us.
