The Invader Set was the second main expansion to the Battles in Time series, not including the Daleks vs Cybermen mini-set and the third main release overall. The set itself was announced in a press release from GE Fabbri on the 14th of August 2007 and was launched a month later on the 5th of September 2006 with a special issue which included two packs of Invader cards (one of which containing the Dalek Blaster card), and an A4 size card album with space for 432 cards. Additional packs were also available for purchase seperately.
The Invader series consisted of a further 225 cards, numbered from 376-600, featuring characters from TV: Smith and Jones-Last of the Time Lords and continued to follow the pre-defined style of the previous cards. The Invader set was split into the following categories:
184 (C) Common cards (8 in every pack)
25 (R) Rare cards (1 in every pack)
10 (SR) Super-Rare cards (1 in every 6 packs)
6 (UR) Ultra-Rare cards (1 in every 24 packs)
1 Golden Ticket card (1 in every 1000 packs)
It is believed that the Invader set was the most printed set in the whole run of Battles in Time with belief that it was somewhat overprinted. This is why even 20 years later, Invader boxes and packs are fairly common and therefore lower priced compared to other sets where sealed boxes are especially rare.
My Render of what the packs for this set looked like, as it is incredibly hard to scan the packs themselves due to the foil packaging. Please do not re-use without permission as alot of work went into re-mastering these. Thank you.
The Invader cards show yellow rarity symbols and series numbers. As well as the "Invader" label on the bottom of the card. The rear of Invader cards show BBC 2007 below the Battles in Time logo. These cards were based on Series 3 of the show.
Please click on the Tick -list poster to view the full Set. I have scanned each card and placed them in one coherent file for your viewing pleasure. Due to the compression of PDF file, they are not as high resolution as my initial scans. However, I believe they are still the highest definition scans you will find in one place.
If you do not wish to do this, I have also uploaded low-resolution scans below of each card.
The second special of Doctor Who: Battles in Time was published on 5 September 2007.
The card-mounted special was priced at £5.99 and came with the following:
Two packs of Invader trading cards
An exclusive "Dalek Blaster" card (Shown with the scans below)
An A4 size card album with space for 432 cards.
The first 11 pages of the special were available to view on the official Battles in Time website.
Accompanying the release of the Invader set was a new 'Battles in Time' website, found at www.battlesintimeinvader.com. Unfortunately, a significant portion of the website's Flash media is inaccessible. However, this image provides a glimpse of the homepage's appearance upon entering the site.
