Card Date Variants

Within the Battles in Time original run, there were two occasions whereby designs were printed on newer card stock. This resulted in what became collequally known as the 'Date Variants'. There are only two sets which are affected by these date variations and these were teh Exterminator Set and the Invader Set. Both of these date variants showed no variation to the design of the cards, and instead were only different on the rear of the cards. The cards themselves were only available through the "dual" packs which only came with the magazines and could not be bought seperately. This is what makes these variants rarer as the magazine was far more expensive than seperate packs of cards.

Towards the end of the Exterminator print run, the Annihilator Cards came out. This was followed by the joint packs containing Exterminator and Annihilator Cards. These later prints of the Exterminator cards had a subtle difference, and that was a higher print quality overall, as well as the BBC 2007 date mark on the rear. Only the Commons and Rares were reprinted meaning that Super Rare and Ultra Rare cards were not part of this "reprint" set.

Later when the Ultimate Monster Set was released, joint packs containing Invader and Ultimate Monsters Cards had the latest print runs of the Invader Cards. These later prints were similar to that of the Exterminator reprints but the Invader cards instead had the BBC 2008 date mark on the rear with no website. Only the Commons and Rares and foil Super Rares were reprinted. Therefore there was no glow or embossed Super Rares, nor any Ultra Rares with this date mark.
