During a winter vacation to Malaysia in February 2018, I had the pleasure of visiting the embassy of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in Kuala Lumpur. I wasn’t allowed inside due to the fact the embassy was on restricted working hours due to the assassination of Kim Jong Nam in Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The United States should immediately drop the sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics was proof that we should be engaging in sporting diplomacy with the North. Trump’s Korean policy matches gangster attitudes, not diplomacy. South Korea has been ruled by hyper conservative leaders for the past decade. Now that Moon Jae In is a new liberal president of South Korea, we can finally see Kim Jong Un’s foreign-policy, as the conservative leaders of Korea’s past had a “ignore them“ policy towards the North.

The United States military does not belong in Korea and should be removed immediately. Chemical weapons are buried under American bases in Korea and are leaking into the surrounding environment. The Korean people want Reunification and the American military presence is the biggest obstacle. We must reject the building of a naval base on Jeju Island, the THAAD missile system, and the wargames by the American President. Korea is One! 우리는 하나다! -

2018년 2월, 나는 말레이시아의 쿠알라룸푸르에 있는 북한 대사관을 방문할 기회가 있었습니다. 불행히도, 그 대사관은 김정남 암살 사건과 깊숙히 관련되어 있는 관계로, 저는 그 안으로 들어가보지는 못했습니다.

미국 및 남한은 북한과 관련된 각종 정치적 태도들을 당장 중단해야 합니다. 2018년 평창 올림픽은 우리가 북한과 이루어야 할 많은 일들의 가능성을 보여주었슴에도, 도널드 트럼프 정권의 대북 정책은 여전히 깡패적 태도로 일관합니다. 남한은 지난 10년간 보수 정권의 지배기간을 거쳐, 지난 해 진보라 불리우는 문재인 정권이 들어섰지만, 여전히 그 태도는 “무관심”에서 변하지 않고 있습니다.

미군의 한반도에서의 퇴장도 요구합니다. 그들은 한반도에 화학 무기를 아무렇게나 매장하고, 그것이 공공에 노출되어도 아무런 책임을 지지 않습니다. 한국 사람들은 (재)통일을 원하고 있지만, 미군의 존재는 이것들을 막고 있습니다. 우리는 당장 제주도에 만들고 있는 해군 THAAD 기지 건설을 멈추고, 그와 관련된 각종 전쟁 관련 정책들을 중지해야 합니다. Korea is One! 우리는 하나다!
