Welcome to the Shattered Isles Hunting Grounds Wiki
Level 1-2
Guaranteed Behemoth: Embermane
Local Flora: Iron Thistle
Lore: A well-trampled forest island not too far from Ramsgate, but distant enough that it's out of glider range and requires an airship. Lesser Behemoths an be found here with alarming regularity, making it perfect for rookie Slayers just cutting their teeth.
Level 1-3
Guaranteed Behemoth: Boreus
Local Flora: Heart Lily, Skybloom
Lore: Once a waystation for long-haul cargo ships, this island ran into an aetherstorm sometime in the last few decades that knocked it into the Sky Below. By the time it returned to the temperate Helic Risers zone, the power of aetheric frost and the Behemoths that feed upon it had suffused the island and it was abandoned to the Hunting Grounds.
Level 2-4
Guaranteed Behemoth: Quillshot
Local flora: Ironthistle, Slayer's Boon, Dashleaf
Lore: An aptly named island that's home to unusual rock formations and little else aside from Behemoths. Though there are some signs that larger cargo ships might have dropped anchor here in the distant past, no other major signs of human habitation seem evident.
Level 3-5
Guaranteed Behemoth: Drask
Local flora: Skybloom
Local ores: Phoenix Opal, Omnistone
Lore: A dry sandy landmass with rich mineral deposits and richer archonite formations deep beneath its surface. The interplay of archonite and other materials may be what pushes so many minerals to the top. The island remains unsuitable for settlement, at least as long as Behemoths thrive here.
Level 4-6
Guaranteed Behemoth: Skarn
Local flora: Heart Lily, Ironthistle, Wrathwort
Lore: Rich in the aetheric power of terra, the resource-laden island of Iron Falls would be almost idyllic if not for the terra-craving Behemoths often found here. Before these dangers were realized, unknown miners made at least one attempt to establish a permanent operation here, but their story - as well as their identities appear lost to history.
Level 5-8
Guaranteed Behemoth: Charogg
Local flora: Ironthistle, Dashleaf
Local ores: Phoenix Opal
Lore: One of many rocky isles in this stretch of the Ram formation which are theorized to have formed when gravitational stresses broke up a much larger parent landmass. Sunderstone continues this disruptive process as crevices and faults crumble into dry dusty sandfalls that will almost certainly doom the island at some point in the hopefully distant future.
Level 6-9
Guaranteed Behemoth: Shrike
Local flora: Skybloom, Slayer's Boon, Heart Lily
Lore: Named for famed explorer Aulric Maas (who once planted a marker atop its highest peak) this mountainous island is home to Behemoths that don't have any fear of heights. There appear to be the remains of a Farslayer settlement here similar to Arbourhome, but if it had a name it's as mysterious as the Farslayers themselves.
Level 7-10
Guaranteed Behemoth: Pangar
Local flora: Skybloom
Local ores: Phoenix Opal, Omnistone
Lore: The Orrey believes that Frostmarch is an undeveloped chunk of pre-Upheaval terrain that was quite literally frozen in time many centuries ago. Recent attempts to resettle the few habitable zones proved unsuccessful, and seem unlikely to continue so long as the island's chilly archonite deposits remain tempting meals for frost Behemoths.
Level 8-11
Guaranteed Behemoth: Nayzaga
Local flora: Heart Lily, Ironthistle, Dashleaf
Lore: Thunderwatch was once going to be an important power-production site for one of Ostia's larger industrial collectives, but Behemoth attacks drove the engineers back to safer skies despite the abundance of stable and easily tapped aether vents.
Level 9-12
Guaranteed Behemoth: Kharaback
Local flora: Ironthistle, Heart Lily, Wrathwort
Local ores: Omnistone
Lore: The island of Fortune's Folly is well-known to Lady Luck and her crew. A frequent waystation (more of a "hitching post," was how Bosun Markus described it) of convenience for corsairs looking to lay low within the dangerous cover of its rainstorms and fog banks, the ironically named isle has seen far less use of late, ever since another wave of Behemoths arrived to feed on newly exposed archonite deposits.
Level 10-13
Guaranteed Behemoth: Valomyr
Local flora: Dashleaf, Heart Lily, Slayer's Boon, Ironthistle
Lore: In this stretch of the Ram, there are precious few islands as aesthetically pleasing and which appear as welcoming as Brightwood. But the deadly Behemoths found here and the variety of elemental energy they feed on make it uniquely unwelcoming to would-be settlers.
Level 11-14
Guaranteed Behemoth: Skraev
Local flora: Skybloom
Local ores: Omnistone, Phoenix Opal
Lore: The icy flats of Coldrunner Key were once expected to serve as airfields for the rich mineral wealth the Ostians planned to extract from the island. But their swift, sleek "coldrunner" freighters proved no match for the Behemoths who started attacking Ostian operations as soon as the miners unearthed archonite.
Level 12-15
Guaranteed Behemoth: Riftstalker
Local flora: Skybloom, Slayer's Boon, Ironsthistle
Lore: A frozen nightmare with rotten visibility, frequent storms, and terrifying Behemoths, the Snowblind Waste seems caught in a perpetual battle between umbral and frost aether. Some freelance treasure hunters who discovered a few Unseen relics there have hypothesized the cultists had some influence on the island's lethal equilibrium of frost and umbral, but the official Orrery position is that this kind of power is far beyond a "mere cult." Both Arkan Drew and Dr. Priyani have warned their superiors that this is short sighted.
Level 13-16
Guaranteed Behemoth: Koshai
Local flora: Wrathwort, Dashleaf, Heart Lily, Ironthistle
Local ores: Phoenix Opal
Lore: Bosun Markus Boehr calls the place "Toxic Island" and the name might have fit like a corrupt, poisonous, and slightly singed glove if some cartographer lost to history hadn't already hit upon "Undervald Defile." Suffused with conflicting frequencies of umbral, terra, and blaze aether, it's a place rich in rare resources but equally rich in ways to die.
Level 14-17
Guaranteed Behemoth: Stormclaw
Local flora: Dashleaf, Ironthistle
Local ores: Omnistone
Lore: A tempest wracked isle that serves as a vantage point from the relative safety charted skies into the chaos surrounding the roiling Maelstrom. The Krolachi explorers who first charted it found that massive weather formations spun out from what they called "Mother Storm" and then linger here, feeding on shock aether until they become mini-Maelstroms in their own right.
Level 15-18
Guaranteed Behemoth: Hellion
Local flora: Skybloom, Ironthistle
Local ores: Omnistone, Phoenix Opal
Lore: A hellscape of ash, smoke and molten rock seething with blaze archonite, the Behemoths who feed here often dig deep within the earth and emerge with eruptive force. The island's name derives from ancient legends about the ruler of the underworld and his never ending effort to grasp the blue skies forever out of his reach.
Level 16-19
Guaranteed Behemoth: Deepfrost Embermane
Local flora: Dashleaf, Skybloom, Slayer's Boon, Heart Lily
Lore: As the bosun likes to say, "There's a reason they call it Razorcliff Isle." Those who make landfall there encounter Behemoths, terrain, and cold bitter winds that all seem bent on cutting a Slayer to shreds. Fiercest of all by far is the Rezakiri, a crystal-winged insectoid that manipulates beams of killing light with lethal precision.
Level 16-19
Guaranteed Behemoth: Rezakiri
Local flora: Slayer's Boon, Ironthistle
Local ores: Omnistone, Phoenix Opal
Lore: Home to the Paradoxicon, a wonderous aetheric machine built by the ancients to manipulate time itself, the Paradox Breaks is all that remains of what was once a sprawling temporal research facility. It was here witnesses first glimpsed the Chronovore, mere moments before a catastrophic time experiment shattered the old world to pieces.
Level 17-20
Guaranteed Behemoth: Shrowd
Local flora: Wrathwort, Skybloom, Heart Lily, Ironthistle
Local ores: Phoenix Opal
Lore: On Twilight Sanctuary, the darkness attacks you. Upon setting down on its unsettling surface, the astonishing concentration of umbral aether on this shadowy isle will raise the bravest Slayer's hackles. Although it's said that the Unseen cult has been spotted here, the ominous presence of the Shrowd on this island is what makes it the bete noire of every Slayer in Ramsgate.
