Improvisation for the SCA
Master John Inchingham the Fool introduces newcomers to the wonders of improvisation and provides veteran performers with a chance to test their abilities. Improvisation is taught both as an art-form in and of itself and as a means of creating ideas for the aspiring bard (and for the seasoned tune-smith with writer’s block). The class is fun and informal. Come prepared to move and to make a fool of yourself!
Reading Medieval Music: Basics of Mensural Notation
Farolfus filius Richardi presents: Have you ever looked at a medieval music manuscript and wondered what the heck was going on? This class is a very introductory overview to the music notation systems used in Medieval Europe with a focus on the mensural notation used from the 13th century through the end of the SCA period. We will go over the basic principles and practice sight-reading and writing some simple, familiar tunes. This class assumes attendees will have at least some prior familiarity with reading modern musical notation, since we will build on concepts (like clef, staff, and note value) that exist in modern notation.

Join Peter the Wanderer as he helps you learn how to use the site token. Class will cove basics of rhythm bone playing and briefly discuss the rhythm bone tradition.
Harping on Harps
Nadbroicc inigena Druisten presents an Introduction to the medieval harps of Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with a "Petting Zoo" of my wire-strung harps. Feel free to bring your own harps!
The 14th Century Invention of the SCA
