We use the phrase "perform a ritual" with ease, but have you ever thought of the performance aspects of your ritual? The SCA has many rituals, some more obvious than others, and you may find yourself leading one someday. Using your bardic skills can not only enhance a good ritual but define it. Both historical and modern religious rituals will also be discussed, as well as how the SCA draws upon them for inspiration. Skirmish details: Two Tarot cards will be drawn for topic options. Your challenge is to start or finish one of the following: 1) A paean, or praise poem, to a period figure or deity 2) A blessing from one period figure or deity 3) A ritual outline, including at least one bardic piece We will then come back together to share our creations and celebrate everyone’s creativity!
Hosted by Mistress Morgana bro Morganwg and Lady Elizabeth de Spaldyng
Many strange Mythic beasts roam the landscape of legends: what did they signify? What fears or hopes or strange circumstance did the derive from, and how can they inform our telling of them? With a focus on the Norse catalog of strange creatures and companions of the god, we explore what they tell us about myth then and now, and close the Skirmish with an open Mystic-themed bardic led by Elizabeth de Spaldyng where we can share our songs of the seasons and cycles and otherworldly things.
