Code Gray in the Self-check Lane
We're marshaling every resource we can to get Dad back to where he was. What we actually did was create a safe space for him to let go. It's really so sad. Instead of ever crying, I get a raging cold, and the rage doesn't stop there. (Excerpt from Father, Daughter & Holy Toast performed as part of Tell It On Tuesday, a curated evening of short works.)

Dating on the Road to Medicare
I'm riding in a taxi chatting with the driver. And he's chatting me back! It's great to be talking to someone my own age. He’s even kind of cute. It’s a welcome respite from being the live-in caregiver to my 84-year-old dad, but it doesn't last long. Did I mention Dad's in the back seat? And he couldn't have picked a worse time for -- how shall I put this? -- a gastric emergency. I have to take care of it, but that doesn't make me unattractive, does it? I mean, if you're dating on the road to Medicare, there's a whole different set of criteria for your perfect love match. (Excerpt from Father, Daughter & Holy Toast performed as part of Solo Sundays is a curated evening of short works.)

Code Gray in the Self-Check Lane
Even though Dad's facing "the ultimate looming prospect," he refuses to follow doctor's orders. Where's his motivation? My own frustration boils over, and I have a complete meltdown in a very public place. (Excerpt from Father, Daughter & Holy Toast performed as part of an evening of short works by local artists.)

Father, Daughter and Holy Toast
Growing up, it was "our house". Now it's "Dad's house." But baby sister seems to think it's "her house." She's acting like a small squirt bottle of dish-washing soap is some kind of personal shrine, when everybody knows the real tabernacle of this kitchen is the toaster. (Excerpt from the larger work performed as part of an evening of short works by four artists.)
