What is barangay based institutions?
Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs)
Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs) refer to the Barangay Development Council (BDC), Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), Barangay Peace and Order Committee (BPOC), Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC), Barangay Ecological Solid Waste Management Council (BESWMC), Barangay Physical Fitness and Sports Development Council (BPFSDC), or other barangay councils and/or committees created in accordance with national and local laws and other issuances.
How BBIs Are Created
Every BBI has its prescribed membership, as well as defined roles, duties, and functions. They are most commonly created through an Executive Order (EO) issued by the Punong Barangay, resolutions passed by the Sangguniang Barangay, or both.
To summarize, the following are the BBIs, along with the statutes, circulars, and issuances mandating their creation and providing the corresponding guidelines:
