Call for submissions for the 3rd edition of the Bantu Film Festival have officially opened to the African Continent and those in the diaspora.

FEATURE FILM :  60 - 90 minutes

What are the categories under the film festival?

We have two categories with their own sub-categories. First is the Students category, which has  short films and documentaries under it. Secondly, it is the Southern Africa category which has short films, documentaries and feature films under it. 

How do I submit my film to the Bantu festival?

All films are to be submitted through a film free way account addressing it to the Bantu Film Festival’s account.

What should I include in my submissions?

For any producer or director submitting a feature film, short film and a documentary they must include; the title, synopsis and a log-line.

What genre do you screen?

Bantu Film Festival is open for all genres.

How long should the film(s) be?

For the student category: Students films: 5-30 min & Documentaries: 10- 30 min

For Southern African category: Short films: 30 minutes, Documentaries: 15-30 min & Feature Films: 60 - 90 min

What formats should the films be for screening?

The films and documentaries should be in the 1080p or 4k format.

Is there any entry fee for submissions?

Submissions are free.

Does Bantu film festival cover the traveling and accommodation expenses?

Film makers are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.

Can I submit multiple films?

No. One submission per production house/producer/director.
