Through the ‘Mosadi Writes’ opportunity, we are committed to identifying and supporting the next generation of talented female screenwriters. We're looking for bold and innovative screenplays that push boundaries. If you're a woman in Botswana with a passion for storytelling, we want to hear from you!
It's crucial to uplift and amplify the voices of women in film. Our grant provides 12,000 Pula for one female screenwriter to produce a winning screenplay! This is a unique opportunity for female writers in Botswana to showcase their talents and have their stories heard by a wider audience.

Thato Akoonyatse for her short film titled ‘Finding her song’
Thato Akoonyatse is a qualified Actor, Writer and Director. She has an undergraduate degree in 'performance' from AFDA, a post graduate honours degree in 'Writing and Directing for theatre and film' from the University of Witwatersrand, and is currently a Masters in Fine Arts candidate. She has a very big passion for writing stories for and from home (Botswana). Thato believes in creating stories that can be archived. She is very keen in involving students in most of her work and believes in collaboration as a way of fostering a learning experience for herself and others. Finding her song short film is currently in post-production and will be premiered at the Bantu Film Festival Closing Ceremony.
