Theresa Hill is the deputy director at STEPS (Social Transformation and Empowerment Projects), a non-profit organisation that is passionate about the power of documentary, film to disrupt and move the world around us. She is in charge of acquisitions and curates the catalogue for the free view AfriDocs online documentary since 2014. She has worked in the documentary film industry for the past 22 years. She is also a Ladima foundation board member and has participated in various film festival juries and selection panels.
Marouan Omara is a filmmaker, educator, programmer, and arts administrator. He passionately supports Arab and African cinema and offers expertise and mentorship to organizations such as Rough Cut Lab Africa, Hot Docs-Blue Ice Film Fund, Doha Film Institute, and The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture. Marouan's films blur the lines between fiction and documentary, utilizing cinema as a genuine tool for research. Since 2012, Marouan has been an Associate Lecturer of Film Production at the German University of Cairo (GUC). He shares his knowledge with aspiring filmmakers there and contributes to the industry's future in Egypt and beyond.
Lawrence R. J. Thompson draws his experience in the film /television industry after years as news cameraman for VISNEWS which was later called REUTERS TELEVISION, ASSOCIATED PRESS TELEVISION, and ALJAZEERA. During this time he worked with major names in the television news with correspondents such as John Simpson, George Allaghai and James Robin from the BBC when they visited Zambia. Lawrence moved from being cameraman to local producer for organizations such as the BBC,SKY NEWS, NBC NEWS USA and many other broadcasting networks with top producers and directors. He was also received recognition awards foroutstanding contribution to the film industry and most recent being MAN OF THE YEAR others include the MWAPE PEER AWRD for symbol of excellence award.
Leonard is an award winning producer and director working in the Department of Industry Affairs and Content at UCC. He has been a juror on several film festivals in Africa from Sotambe Zambia International Festival, Zanzibar International Film Festival to Masharaki African Film Festival in Rwanda. As a film producer/director he has accumulated awards from various film festival for his film “Crystal Countless Misfortune” where he is has won over 10 awards on the international scene from Fox International Film Festival in Poland to Silicon Valley Film Festival in USA.
