Banks Osborne joined the PhD in Finance program at the University of Tennessee in 2020. He earned his BA in Economics, BS in Mathematics, and MS in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Prior to joining the PhD program, Banks worked as a data scientist and consultant healthcare statistician.Â
His research interests primarily revolve around FinTech and municipal finance-related topics, and his current research agenda focuses on the role of cyber risk in financial markets. Specifically, his dissertation seeks to extend our understanding of how cyberattacks and data breaches affect the financial and real outcomes of non-breached stakeholders. He hopes his research contributes to the ongoing policy debates regarding the intersection of financial markets and technology.
