Here is a list of some of the programs the Bandelier PTA sponsors to support our students, staff, and community:
Here is a list of some of the programs the Bandelier PTA sponsors to support our students, staff, and community:
- The Bandelier PTA Music Program, which brings weekly classroom music instruction to all Bandelier students.
- Support of Art in the School; AIS volunteers provide many hours of supplementary classroom art instruction.
- The Sun & Shade Committee, Bandelier's model program which works to bring hats, shade structures, and sun-safe behavior to our community.
- Buses for class field trips. As our 2nd-graders say, "It's a long walk without the PTA's help!"
- Backpack Snack program and School Break Food Drives, in coordination with the school Counselor, that provide extra food for families in need.
- Support of the Bandelier Garden, an outdoor classroom for teaching sustainable gardening techniques and appreciation of fresh, home-grown fruits and vegetables in a cooperative learning environment.
- Wrinkle Writing, a playwriting-in-the-school program that aims to improve student literacy through the arts and collaboration.
- Teachers' Fund; discretionary funds to partially reimburse the teachers for personal funds spent to supplement classroom materials and otherwise directly benefit our students.
- Sponsorship of Curriculum Enrichment, such as BrainPOP and Reading A-Z on-line subscriptions.
- Support of Extracurricular Activities, such as T-Shirts for our Battle of the Books team to wear while representing Bandelier at the annual Battle.
- Testing snacks: for students taking standards-based tests.
- Purchase of supplemental PE equipment and support of the Bandelier Jump Rope Team.
- Lower-cost or free scholarships for PTA or school activities for students in need.
