2021-22 BGHS Marching Band Volunteer Needs

We will be using Remind and Sign Up Genius to schedule volunteer activities. Please join the Remind BGIA Parents Class by clicking below to get on board!


Summary of Key Volunteering Opportunities:

  • Uniforms

    • Help fit and measure new students and existing students as they grow. This generally happens during the summer before competition season starts

    • Help distribute and collect uniforms, hats, plumes, etc. before and after competitions and sometimes football games

  • Props and Podiums

    • Help assemble and disassemble props at competitions and at football games

    • Move podiums into place for drum majors. Take them off the field when finished

    • Occasional opportunities to build or enhance props

  • Competitions Loading, Unloading and Driving

    • Volunteering at a competition site will get you free entry!

    • At BGHS loading and unloading trailers and trucks with equipment, props and instruments

    • At competition sites loading and unloading trailers and trucks with equipment, props and instruments

    • At competitions assemble, disassemble and help move props and equipment onto and off the field for the performance

    • Drive a 26 foot rental truck to and from competitions

  • Snacks and Water

    • Buying snacks and water for students over the summer, at football games, parades and competitions (reimbursed)

    • Distributing snacks and water to students

    • Filling water jugs

    • Order food at times for special events (e.g. Nino's pizza, Dairy Queen blizzards, etc) (reimbursed)

  • Football Game Opportunities

    • Free entry to games with a sideline view!

    • Move instruments and equipment from the school to the field and back

    • Move instruments and equipment onto the field before and after halftime performances

    • Keep students hydrated

  • Fundraising

    • Identify local businesses and opportunities for dining for dollars, sponsorships and donations

    • Manage and find other band/student oriented fundraising efforts
