It begins with the growers in India, they are responsible for growing and picking the bananas while they are green to be given enough time to transport them to the consumers. After the bananas are picked, they are then packaged in boxes and loaded into pallets. The pallets are then labeled and shipped to either a shipping company or directly to the port.
After the bananas are received, they are then sent to a third-party transport service or transferred directly to the port. The labels on the boxes or pallets are scanned and then sent to their respective modes of transportation. This is more commonly done by railways and container ships. In whichever mode of transportation, they are refrigerated during their transport to stop ripening.
The bananas are received from their transport service and are distributed to various locations. The bananas are unloaded from their pallets and put onto their final shipping transport. They could be sent to ripening/storage facilities or shipping centers. At the facilities, the bananas are enclosed in a room and are put to ripen with ethylene. After they are ripened, they are shipped to a retail distribution center. From here the bananas are sent to different retailers.
Finally, the bananas arrive at supermarkets or their retail stores. They are stored on shelves for the consumers to choose from. Then they are ready for their final trip, the consumer's home, to finally be eaten!
