ARE THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU CONDUCIVE TO THE LIFE YOU'RE TRYING TO BUILD?
Relationships can strengthen your position—or repeatedly pull you away from it.
A person doesn't have to be a bad person for their behavior, influence, expectations or access to be non-conducive to your desired lifestyle.
The goal isn't to judge people. It's to recognize influence, establish boundaries, strengthen healthy relationships and protect your progress.
Ask yourself:
Who has the greatest influence over my decisions?
Who encourages the lifestyle I'm trying to build?
Who repeatedly pulls me toward behaviors I'm trying to leave behind?
Who only has access to me because of history, familiarity, guilt or loyalty?
Who respects my boundaries when I say no?
Who benefits when I stay exactly where I am?
Who challenges me to actually do the building work?
Who should have MORE access to me?
Who may need LESS access to me?
Sometimes the person isn't the entire problem.
The combination of the person + the environment may be the problem.
You might have someone you genuinely care about but consistently make poor decisions with at:
parties
clubs
casinos
certain neighborhoods
drinking environments
betting situations
late-night outings
Ask yourself:
Can this relationship exist in an environment that's more conducive to where I'm going?
