I remember the Irish College in the 1940’s. We really looked forward to it. It was run by an Irish teacher from Dingle, Mr. Fitzgerald. There were lots of students learning Irish but we just liked the céilís. Micheál and I went almost every night, walking of course. Kathleen English usually came with us. I think we paid 5 shillings a month to get in. We did lots of different dances, Cor na Síóg, 8 Hand Reel, 16 Hand Reel, Droichead Átha Luan and we always had Rogha na gCailíní. It was great fun. We were very lonely when ‘the collegians’ went away.
