Heya!! My name is Lynn Gameson, and I'm the designer for Bakers for Better! I'm a sophomore at Klein High and this is my second year competing in HOSA, with this being my 2nd year competing in MHP. I hope to be a pediatric anesthesiologist and have another degree in child psychology in the future. I am involved with the Klein Band, HOSA, Red Cross, and STEMsters! I love my leadership positions in these clubs, and serving others has always been something I enjoy. Even though sophomore year hasn't been the easiest and it gets isolating sometimes, I’ve learned to persevere with my friends and especially my teammates help! I’m extremely motivated by the belief that success means little if it doesn’t help others, and I’m constantly pushing myself to be better than I was days prior. This team and campaign taught me to be less insecure about my personality and you don't need to be perfect to connect with your community.
Hi there! My name is Mahnoor Shaharyar, and I'm the manager! I'm a sophomore attending Klein High School, and my dream career is a pediatric anesthesiologist! This is my second year competing in HOSA MHP and last year my team got 1st at area and 10th at state. The clubs I'm associated with at Klein High include Crochet, Letters for Elders, and many more. This year, as a sophomore, I am president and founder of Klein High STEMsters, KIT social chair, and Red Cross reporter officer along with plenty of APs. Creating Bakers for Better with HOSA has helped me understand how significant connection is and how impactful isolation as a teen is on our mental health and the effects it has on students. Being part of this group helped me combat my long term struggles with teen isolation and connect with my peers and I hope it does the same for those around me!
Hello! My name is Julia Thomas, and I am the researcher for Bakers for Better. I am currently a sophomore at Klein High School and this is my second year participating in HOSA competition. In the future, I wish to become a pediatrician because I love working with kids and making a positive impact in their lives. I am involved in many extracurriculars including Red Cross, STUCO, BK4C, STEMsters, and Senior Support! These clubs have shaped my passion and dedication in community service and leadership. Through our Mental Health Promotion project, our team chose to focus teen isolation, a growing issue that significantly impacts our emotional well being, academic performance, and overall mental health. By raising awareness, promoting connection, and encouraging support systems in school, I'm honored that our HOSA team aims to empower teens to feel seen, supported, and less alone in their communities.
Hey! My name is Noor Arif, and I'm the Social Media Manager for Bakers for Better! I'm a sophomore at Klein High and this is my second year competing in HOSA. In the future I hope to become a neurologist. I am involved with HOSA, Red Cross, KIT, AAC, Letters for Elders, Spanish Club and more! I moved to Klein this year and I have enjoyed being more involved in clubs that stimulate my interests and allow me to explore my passions. I have found I really enjoy volunteering and helping others through these programs. Starting Bakers for Better with HOSA and my friends really helped me, personally, while moving. It was was a direct example of how powerful connection really was, and it transformed my life, by helping me face my internalized isolation that so many other teens face. Not only did this group help me personally but I got to see our work help so many others, friends and strangers.
