Education Your Way
Each day, students will ease into their morning with a soft start, engaging in activities such as reading, journaling, and hands-on projects to set a positive tone for the day ahead. At 8:30, classes officially begin, with older students transitioning between subjects throughout the day. Without the added time spent waiting in lines for bathrooms or lunch, and free from the pressures of high-stakes testing, our schedule allows for a focused and enriching learning experience. We attend school Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
What does Mississippi say about homeschool?
The state of Mississippi does not have too many requirements for families wishing to homeschool. There is not a requirement of days or hours that must be met. The family must simply withdraw from the public school system if they are currently enrolled, and send in an attendance verification form informing the state that the child will be homeschooled.
Homeschool is an alternative to traditional school. It is a great option for many students that wish to be challenged more, struggling through traditional school, or for a family wishing to take more ownership of their child's education. Homeschool affords the student and family to study subjects that are of interest to them at a pace that suits the student!
Homeschool is not traditional school done at home. Not every one in the "classroom" will work on the same thing. There will not always be traditional grades or traditional tests. Often times that only stresses the student out and does not actually encourage true learning.
