The APFC was established in 2009 with a mission to advocate for behavioral health care through connecting, promoting, and developing leadership by peers, family members and allies statewide.
The AFPC envisions a community where peer and family leaders are included in all aspects of behavioral health care. Today, the APFC has over 175 participants who value the lived experience of individuals and family members who have been impacted by mental illness. The APFC influences policy makers to engage in positive change through community organizing and civic leadership efforts. The APFC’s Northern Arizona Peer & Family Coalition (NAPFC) affiliate, founded in 2019, is charged with advocating for, connecting, promoting and developing leadership by peers and family members throughout the northern 6 counties of our state.
