A Whale Heritage Site is an outstanding location where cetaceans (whales, dolphins, or porpoises) are embraced through the cultural, economic, social, and political lives of associated communities, and where people and cetaceans coexist in an authentic and respectful way.
The meeting allowed to collaboratively develop a vision of coexistence between people and cetaceans in the Azores, sharing knowledge about how we celebrate cetaceans in culture, arts, and local festivities; how cetaceans help to support economic and environmental sustainability; and how local science and educational projects can be developed.
