Ayesha Susan Thomas

I am a playwright, performer, director & applied theatre facilitator from Mumbai, India.

My most recent performance project is a satirical, transfeminist, verbatim theatre show examining the portrayal of the female body in Indian medical textbooks; 'The Amazing Flabby-breasted Virgin & other Sordid Tales" is available to view at www.flabbybreastedvirgin.com.

My work tends to play with themes from queer feminist theory through devised & documentary theatrical forms. I am currently curious about radical conceptions of madness and melancholy, the persisitence of hope, fury/ pain as fuel for creative work, and how to brew a perfect cup of tea. I also like to talk to cats.

I currently live in Belgrade, Serbia, where I work as the Leader of Learning for Performing Arts, and a high school drama teacher, at the International School of Belgrade.
