Personal trainer Ayden Hector has always maintained that every part of a complete workout is absolutely necessary. That being said, he has always been baffled by people’s lack of concern for the post-workout cool down.
For today’s blog, Ayden Hector lists down the most important reasons people should never forego their post-workout cool down.
Blood and oxygen circulation
During a workout, especially an intense one, blood rushes in and out of veins and muscles. Stopping abruptly can cause the blood to suddenly build up in the blood vessels. This can cause a lot of problems, such as dizziness and body aches and pains. Ayden Hector mentions that the cool down process restores proper blood and oxygen circulation.
Heart rate and BP
Cooling down after a workout brings down the heart rate and blood pressure of a person to normal levels. This helps a person regulate his or her breathing and relax. It also kickstarts the recovery process of the muscles, according to Ayden Hector.
Body temperature
A good workout will increase one’s core temperature, allowing him or her to burn fat. This is why people sweat so much while exercising. Cooling down, as the name suggests, brings down the body temperature to more manageable levels, Ayden Hector adds.
