Back in the ‘70s and ‘80s, we only had the likes of Jane Fonda, Richard Simmons, and a few other fitness enthusiasts who would release fitness videos for people to follow. In the ‘90s, several other personalities released fitness videos, most notable of which was Billy Blanks with his Tae Bo series.
However, when the 2000s came along, a company by the name of BeachBody.com tapped the services of a man named Tony Horton, and released the Power 90, or P90 fitness series, a video series that had two tracks – Sweat (cardio) and Sculpt (bodybuilding). It turned out to be a moderate success, adds Ayden Hector.
The follow-up to P90 though, was a different matter altogether. The P90X was a monster hit and was one of the most successful fitness series of BeachBody.com.
This 90-day program includes 12 DVDs, and 12 moderately intense workouts, which are meant for individuals with a moderate-level of fitness. For beginners and advanced fitness enthusiasts, a bit of modification to the workouts is possible without taking away their efficacy.
The series still has cardio routines – Cardio X and the martial arts-inspired Kenpo X. It also has rest day routines in Yoga X and Stretch X. And, of course, it has a number of bodybuilding videos that hit all the major muscle groups.
Ayden Hector mentions that even with the release of P90X-2 and P90X-3, sequels to the first P90X, that first one is still very much worth any fitness buff’s attention.
